We’re starting off March with a #tbt image of an early Littleton business. The J. George Leyner Engineering Works Company opened in Littleton in 1903, after being in Denver since the early 1890s. The company mostly manufactured equipment for the mining industry, with J. George Leyner holding numerous patents related to mining equipment. This image, taken in March 1913, shows two men working at metal lathes in the Leyner Engineering Works building. If you look closely, you can see a belt attached at the right end of the lathe, as well as belts in the background. These were connected to a line shaft in the rafters of the building, which was used to power all the machinery in the building. #littletonmuseum #museumcollections For more information on the Leyner Engineering Works Company, please visit www.littletongov.org/my-littleton/littleton-history/other-topics/leyner-engineering-company ...
